Submissions
General guidelines
- Submit all work in .doc or .docx format
- All work should be in Times New Roman font, 12-pt, doubled-spaced (except Poetry due to stylistic choices)
- Please do not include your name on your manuscript. We read each submission anonymously.
- For Prose submissions, please number your pages.
Poetry
- Up to 2 poems per submission
Fiction
- Flash Fiction: up to 1000 words
- Short Stories: up to 3000 words
Creative Nonfiction
- Essays: up to 3000 words
- Memoirs: up to 3000 words
Submission process
- All submissions should be sent via our google form— please click on the button below to fill that out.
- With your submission, please include a brief cover letter with your name, contact information, and a short author’s bio (no more than 300 words).
- We do not accept previously published work. If your work is accepted to another magazine, notify us immediately via our email: Thelastlightmagazine.com
- After submitting your work, expect a response within 6 weeks.
- If your work is accepted, we request first publication rights; all rights revert to the author after publication.
- Please credit us in any reprints.
- We do not accept any work that includes hate speech, plagiarism, or AI-generated text.
- You may submit to multiple genres. However, please only submit one genre per cycle.
